Russian forces launch assaults in Kursk Oblast, situation deteriorates on left flank of Ukrainian forces – DeepState

DeepState analysts noted that the situation on the left flank of the Ukrainian group has worsened. They stated that the Russian army initiated the assaults by first moving armored vehicles across the Seym River and then across smaller rivers.

“Another attack occurred from Korenevo, which was recently lost, towards Snagost,” the report says.

The analysts recorded the movement of a Russian armored column from Korenevo towards Snagost, as well as active combat in the area.

Ukrainian offensive in Kursk Oblast

On Aug. 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed for the first time that Ukraine’s Defense Forces were conducting an operation in Russia’s Kursk Oblast. He emphasized that the operation, which began on Aug. 6, aimed to liberate Ukraine’s border areas from Russian forces, who regularly shelled Sumy Oblast.

During a press conference on Aug. 27 following discussions at the Ukraine 2024: Independence forum, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was not occupying Kursk Oblast and that the Ukrainian operation in the region was solely aimed at preventing Russians from creating a buffer zone on Ukrainian territory.

On Sept. 2, Zelenskyy reported that the operation in Kursk Oblast was proceeding as planned and achieving its objectives. Ukrainian forces had captured more than 600 Russian soldiers.

On Sept. 6, the president announced that Ukrainian forces control 1,300 square kilometers in Kursk Oblast, where more than 100 settlements are located.

On Sept. 7, the Financial Times, citing intelligence officials, noted that the Ukrainian operation in Kursk Oblast had “sown doubts among the Russian elite.”
